I spent two days copying and pasting my blog posts since April 9 of 2010 and then formatting them so I could print them. I completed the task this morning and it is kind of mind blowing having all these pages containing my heart and soul. In the process of all this time looking over the journey I have been on, I realized along the way that what many friends have told me is true - I am a very gifted writer and I have a story to tell. I had an idea for and wrote a possible introduction for my book, should I ever write it. This is the introduction I wrote.
Introduction
It all started with a simple blog. The title I chose for my blog was “Running the Race to the Finish!!” In my “About me” section I wrote: “I don’t like to start something I can’t finish. I’ve recently developed a love for running. However, life is about more than finishing races, it’s about finishing all you start in life. I am a work in progress, some say I’m stubborn, but I’m simply determined to finish what I start and finish well.”
My first entry was this:
Marathon Training officially starts Monday April 12th
I've been wanting to do a blog for a long time and I decided with my marathon training officially starting this coming Monday, April 12th, I would start my blog. I just finished figuring out my training schedule and to say I am scared silly is an understatement. This task seems overwhelming. I know from running the 1/2 marathon in October of 2009 that the training is the hardest part. But, as most people who know me know, I am determined and I am going to do this.
So, here's my training schedule....

MARATHON!

I will try to post something at least once a week, but hopefully more about my progress and how I am feeling about the training. I am super excited that I am doing this. Thanks for following along on my journey!
When I first started my blog, the focus was very much on my running and training. However, over time it developed into something more. As I was “running the race of life” much was happening in my life. I have always processed by writing so my blog became the place I did that. I had several friends comment about what a good writer I was and how I should write a book. I took their compliments with a grain of salt - I mean they were my friends, of course they would say nice things. But, over time I realized they were right - God had given me an ability to communicate with words and I had a story to tell. This is how this book came about... just a girl, living life, struggling, thinking she was too broken for God and then realizing she wasn’t.
I am just an ordinary girl, but with God, I have been on an extraordinary journey. One of my counselors made a comment to me about how there is no pain without purpose. If God can use my story to help just one person it is worth it.
Running the race to the finish,
Sherri
