I keep coming across the word steadfast in my Bible reading.
A few instances are here:
"But I will sing of your strength;
I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.
For you have been to me a fortress
and a refuge in the day of my distress.
O my Strength, I will sing praises to you,
for you, O God, are my fortress,
the God who shows me steadfast love."
~ Psalm 59:16-17
"Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you."
~ Psalm 63:3
"Blessed be God,
because he has not rejected my prayer
or removed his steadfast love from me!"
~ Psalm 66:20
Steadfast...
- steady
- firm
- stable
- constant
- staunch
- immovable
My God is steadfast!!
- When I am shaky
- When my heart is hurting for no explicable reason
- When I am tired
- When I am worn out
My God is steadfast!!
And because of this
"...I will hope continually
and will praise you yet more and more."
~ Psalm 71:14
This wasn't one of the passages I'd read lately, but thinking of God's steadfast love I couldn't help but think of Lamentations 3:22-23...
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning
great is your faithfulness."
... which of course leads to this song which I will be singing myself to sleep with now as I seek to reflect not on my feelings and emotions which waver like the wind, but on God's great steadfast love.
